What is Sentinel Survey?

The Sentinel Surveys are an opportunity for COP students to give ongoing feedback about their learning experiences. The Sentinel Survey is coordinated by the Educational Assessment Committee (EAC), because the EAC wants to know about your educational experiences from week to week.

At the beginning of the semester, you will be asked to register online to use the Sentinel Surveys. Once registered, you can log-in as often as you wish and give your feedback using the online Surveys. Each survey is very brief and may take you less than a minute to complete.

The Survey results are carefully reviewed every week. If there are problems detected by the Surveys, the College can then respond to them swiftly. Of course, if there are no problems, the College needs to know that, too (so we can keep up the good work). You can use the Sentinel Surveys to give the College both positive and negative feedback. The more Survey responses we get from students, the better the College is able to identify problem areas and resolve them immediately.

To make sure that the College has enough feedback from students, a random group of students will be selected every week to take the Survey. This means that you may receive an email message, alerting you that you should complete the Survey (it should only take you a minute or two). Of course, you don’t have to wait for an invitation to give your feedback, but if you are among those students selected to respond to the Survey that week, please take the time to do so.

The goal of the Sentinel Surveys is to enhance the College’s ability to rapidly respond to the needs of its students. The EAC designed the Sentinel Surveys to be a simple way for you to quickly convey your learning experiences, and your feedback is important.
