Biosketch:
Dr. Lai obtained her Ph.D. in 1996 at University of Maryland in Pharmacoeconomics. She serves as the full professor at the department of social administrative pharmacy specializing in Pharmacoecononic, outcome research, biostatistics, and international education. During over 20 years on this faculty and as a statistical researcher and collaborator, she has over hundred of publications and presentations at the health and pharmacy professional journals and conferences. She was also appointed by the National Institute of Health Center for scientific review special emphasis panel as the research grant proposal reviewer since 2002. In addition to research and teaching at the School of Pharmacy, Dr. Lai was appointed by the formal Florida State Governor Bush in three terms to serve at the state of the Florida pharmaceutical and therapeutical committee, where her principal role is to evaluate the preferred drug list for Medicaid formulary from cost effectiveness perspective. She also served at the State of Florida Medicaid drug utilization review Board for nine consecutive years. Since arriving at NSU in 1996, Dr. Leanne Lai has been committed to advancing pharmacy education both institutionally and internationally. In 2002 she co-founded the International Pharmacy Program, and has served as program director for ten years. Dr. Lai developed numerous collaborative research and educational projects with leading institutions of higher learning in Latin America, Asia, and Europe. She also brought pharmacy students to the aid of worldwide causes, developing charity events in conjunction with the World Health Organization, tsunami relief efforts, World Aids Day, and others.
